Teleaudiology also known as remote hearing care—enables your audiologist to adjust your hearing aids remotely, without requiring a visit to the centre. According to the World Health Organization, noise induced hearing loss (or “NIHL”) is the most common – but preventable – permanent on the job injury in the world. With mobile testing units, we have the capacity to visit your facility and test your staff hearing to ensure their hearing health is maintained.
Hearing changes very slowly and the early stages often go unnoticed. Whether you have noticed it yourself and family or friends are making comments about your hearing, it is extremely important not to delay having your hearing checked by an audiologist.
A hearing consultation is completely painless, and it does not take that long.
Even children are prone to hearing problems. Risk factors include ear infection, head trauma and genetic issues. The type of hearing tests used depends on the age of the child.
Play audiometry – children aged 2.5 years old until 5 years old are taught on how to perform a repetitive play task, such as placing a peg in a pegboard, each time she hears a sound.
Older children are tested conventionally, the same as adults.
If hearing aids are recommended after your hearing is tested, our audiologist will work with you to find the right hearing aid. A hearing aid fitting process starts with an assessment of your needs and ends with follow-up visits to ensure your hearing aid has been calibrated and tuned to meet your requirements.
Hearing aids do have a shelf life. They can last from three to seven years with variables such as usage and levels of care that affect its lifespan. But it’s always a good idea to keep abreast with new products or technology that can enhance your hearing even further with a hearing aid upgrade.
A hearing test provides a measurement of the sensitivity of a person’s hearing across the full range of speech. The test will measure the quietest sound that can be heard at different pitch and loudness. The audiologist charts the results of your hearing tests on a graph called an audiogram, which helps to pinpoint the severity and possible causes of your hearing problems.
